Sweet Fillings - Black Sesame

This is another delicious filling in tong yuen/tangyuan. Sweet and nutty this filling makes a delicious filling in your favorite snacks.

Black Sesame Filling

Suggested filling in tong yuen/tangyuan, sesame balls, and mochi.

Ingredients (makes 1 cup)

1 cup toasted black sesame seeds

1/4 cup sugar

3-4 Tablespoons softened butter or coconut oil


Place sesame seeds in a food processor or blender and pulse until fine. Do not over process or it will become a paste and too soft to hold its shape. Add sugar and softened butter or coconut oil, and mix until combined. The filling is ready to use. If you are not going to use it right away, transfer to a zip top bag or an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
